Objective

To reduce plastic pollution by collecting and reusing plastic wrappers and other non-recyclable plastics.

Explanation

Eco-bricks are created by tightly packing used plastic wrappers, snack covers, and other non-recyclable waste into clean, dry PET bottles.
These eco-bricks can be used to build:

  • Garden walls
  • Benches
  • Pathway borders
  • Small eco-structures for schools and parks

Benefits

  • Prevents plastic from entering soil and water bodies
  • Encourages students to practice sustainable building
  • Creates awareness about waste segregation and recycling

Implementation Steps

  1. Collection: Students gather used plastic wrappers and covers from homes, surroundings, and school premises.
  2. Preparation: Clean and dry all collected plastic waste to prevent odor and bacterial growth.
  3. Filling: Insert the plastic pieces into 1L or 2L PET bottles and pack them tightly using a stick to eliminate air gaps.
  4. Completion: Seal the bottle once it becomes hard and heavy, indicating a fully packed eco-brick.
  5. Usage: Use the finished eco-bricks in school projects such as garden fencing, seating spaces, or small eco-structures.
